A circular built environment is based on sustainable spatial planning and circular design principles.
Buildings and infrastructure are constructed following eco-design principles, while sustainable circular value chains are created with the reuse or recycling of components, as well as minimizing waste generated from construction, demolition and renovation projects. Additionally, multi-purpose construction and infrastructure projects optimize space, reduce waste, and greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, sustainable buildings with increased resource efficiency and the use of construction waste and sustainable infrastructure drive circular transition in other sectors.
